Woodend RSL provides or facilitates assistance to local veterans and their dependents.
Our mission is to provide care, commemoration and camaraderie to enable veterans and their families to live with dignity and respect.
We encourage involvement with the entire community to achieve our goals. We encourage both veterans and the public to use our facilities to build social cohesion and make sure we are all looking out for each other. We are a pokies free RSL run entirely by volunteers. We host many community groups and local events in our facilities where we have a small museum, a dining area for up to 100 people, a commercial kitchen and bar facilities. We also have a large grass area that can host 200-300 people. Our facilities are open to the public Thursday and Friday nights. We have meals available Friday nights. (Check our website for more detail).
Our welfare officer can follow up veteran and veteran family support to ensure the Department of Veteran Affairs entitlements are provided and we can also arrange other support if needed.
The project aims to bring older people together both online and in person and attend activities that support good mental and physical health and enable better connections to the local community.
